On Monday, September 21, 2026 the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the University of Ljubljana held its first Open House, where high school students and teachers explored the worlds of chemistry, chemical engineering, and technical safety through experiments, hands-on activities, and laboratory tours. The researchers of the Water Research Center gave the high school students a short introduction about the importance of clean water, and explained the basic procedures for the quality control, and purification methods. The young people had a chance to perform some simple lab experiments determining water properties, and purification procedures. The Open House thus offered the opportunity to learn about chemistry outside the classroom, through experiments, research, and hands-on experience with modern laboratory equipment (Photo: A. Križ).
