Representatives of the Water Research Centre (WRC) at the University of Ljubljana participated in the Africa-Europe Clusters of Research Excellence Conference held in Glasgow, where partners of the “Water Resources Management for a Sustainable and Just Future (WRM)” Cluster of Research Excellence (CoRE) gathered to discuss ongoing activities and future collaboration opportunities.
During the Meetings of Individual CoREs session on June 16th 2026, Prof. Dr. Andreja Žgajnar Gotvajn and Prof. Dr. Zoran Bosnić from the WRC, University of Ljubljana, met with WRM CoRE partners including Dr. Natascha Wagner (Radboud University), Dr. Modupe Jimoh (University of Warwick), Dr. James Akanmu (University of Lagos), and Dr. Joel Nobert (University of Dar es Salaam).
As part of the session, Prof. Dr. Zoran Bosnić presented the activities of the WRC at the University of Ljubljana, with particular emphasis on the development of WaterDataHub 1.0, a new database integrating publicly available data sources for water research and applications of artificial intelligence. The platform that is going to launch soon, aims to support interdisciplinary research and foster data-driven approaches to sustainable water resource management.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss future joint research initiatives and strengthen collaboration among WRM CoRE partners across Europe and Africa.
The session was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Andreja Žgajnar Gotvajn, facilitating discussions on shared research priorities and opportunities for further cooperation within the WRM CoRE network.
